WCR Indonesia was honored to facilitate the Capacity-Building Training on the Investigation of Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Violence within the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim POLRI), particularly the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children and Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO), as well as investigators from Regional Police (Polda) and District Police (Polres) across Indonesia. The training was conducted from Monday to Friday, 1–5 December 2025, at Orchardz Hotel Industri, Central Jakarta.

WCR Indonesia’s involvement was led directly by Dr. Margaretha Hanita, Founder & Director of WCR Indonesia, who served as a key resource person and delivered a session titled “Leadership in Risk Mitigation for the Handling of Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Violence Cases.” In addition, Dr. Hanita facilitated a case-handling simulation on sexual violence, providing participants with practical, scenario-based learning.

The training aimed to strengthen investigators’ competencies in handling cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and sexual violence, including cases with a high level of complexity. The program focused on accurate investigative methods, proper evidence collection, and the application of risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and protection of victims throughout the legal process.

Through the case-handling simulations facilitated by WCR Indonesia, participants gained hands-on learning experiences in applying professional, justice-oriented, and victim-sensitive approaches at every stage of law enforcement.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s criminal justice system, this capacity-building initiative is expected to enhance investigators’ understanding and readiness to respond to cases of gender-based and sexual violence in a comprehensive, effective, and responsive manner.
